The main appeal to this argument is that some people believe that biometrics are an invasion of privacy and that iris scans and fingerprinting both present a biological risk. Siciliano believes that in a world where private data can be stolen easily and where it becomes increasingly difficult to prove one's identity, biometric authentication is a safe and secure way to safeguard people's identities. Some misconceptions of biometrics are that they are “the mark of the beast,” or something given like a code or tattoo. These are untrue; they are something that we already have. Biometrics are a tool to avoid identity theft no to invade privacy.
